Transition Between Classes
We are committed to ensuring that transition between classes is smooth, supportive and positive for all of our children.
During the summer term, children spend time with their new teacher so they can begin to build relationships and feel confident about the year ahead. Teachers meet to carefully hand over key information to ensure every child’s needs, strengths and next steps are fully understood.
All children receive a transition leaflet to take home, which includes helpful information and photographs of relevant staff. This acts as a reassuring reminder over the summer holidays.
For some children, a more bespoke transition plan may be required. In these cases, we work closely with families to provide additional visits, support or tailored arrangements to ensure a successful start.
Our consistent routines across the school also play an important role in supporting transition, helping children to feel secure, confident and ready to learn as they move into their new class.
